Religious Life

Lydia Moss Bradley founded the University as a nonsectarian, private institution and in the charter stipulated for the development of “the principles of morality and right living….” From its history, the University provides its students opportunities conducive to the development of character, morality, and high principles. These are carried out through student organizations representing diverse religions on campus, student activities and programming, and numerous academic programs.

The University offers a major in religious studies, which is designed to help students develop a broad understanding of specific world religions. 

Additionally, Dining Services will work with individual students on special dietary needs and schedules menus around major religious holidays. A kosher kitchen is used in Geisert Hall and produces food for various outlets on campus.

There are several churches around campus and in the Peoria area for students to worship or to visit and inquire about a particular religion.

Religious holidays and class attendance: If a student should have to miss class due to a religious holiday, the student must notify the instructor at least one week prior to the class. During the course of the academic year, there are several religious holidays that students may want to observe. In some cases this will require that they miss class. The faculty is asked to be considerate in dealing with any such absences.

If there are questions regarding a particular religious holiday and a student's request, faculty members are asked to contact the Office of the Provost at (309) 677-3152.

This is the official catalog for the 2013-2014 academic year. This catalog serves as a contract between a student and Bradley University. Should changes in a program of study become necessary prior to the next academic year every effort will be made to keep students advised of any such changes via the Dean of the College or Chair of the Department concerned, the Registrar's Office, u.Achieve degree audit system, and the Schedule of Classes. It is the responsibility of each student to be aware of the current program and graduation requirements for particular degree programs.
