Interdisciplinary Innovation

The Interdisciplinary Innovation Degree Completion program gives students the opportunity to combine their completed coursework with courses in creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship, to develop an individualized program of study and  a meaningful degree that incorporates interdisciplinary convergence of knowledge and skills in the context of their career goals. Students may be recommended for this program by an academic advisor from one of Bradley’s 5 colleges or the Academic Exploration program upon completion of 90 credit hours. .

Students admitted into the Interdisciplinary Innovation Degree Completion program work with the Turner School  SEI academic advisor to construct  a meaningful course of study, from which they will develop a proposal explaining how this course of study meets their academic and career objectives. The Turner School SEI academic advisor and the Executive and Academic Director, who comprise the Turner School Curriculum Committee, review and approve curriculum proposals.

Interdisciplinary Innovation Degree Completion  Requirements

Bradley Core Curriculum (BCC) (36 hours) is a set of twelve diverse courses required of every student at the university, courses selected from eight categories known as “Areas of Inquiry.” In addition to the Areas of Inquiry, the BCC experience includes a set of two “Core Practices”: Writing Intensive (WI) courses and Experiential Learning (EL) Experiences.  To learn about please visit https://www.bradley.edu/sites/bcc/. The SEI academic advisor works with students, depending on their catalog year of entry into Bradley, to select courses that meet BCC requirements and align with the meaningful interdisciplinary course of study proposal.

In addition to the BCC requirements, students must complete 64 hours of electives from the Bradley catalog.

Meaningful program of study (24 hours, 12 of which must be at the 300-level or above) – Students work with their SEI advisor to develop a meaningful interdisciplinary course of study proposal that meets that academic and career objectives, including how innovation is needed to solve problems in their current and future career goals. This proposal will be presented to the Turner School Curriculum Committee for approval.

As part of this program of study, student are required to complete two entrepreneurship courses (6 hours of the 24 noted above)

  • ENT 280 - Entrepreneurial Creativity – a course designed to teach idea and opportunity generation, recognition, and evaluation..
  • ENT 482 – The Entrepreneurial Experience – our capstone course that gives students practical experiential learning

Students  must meet a minimum of a 2.00 GPA in their approved program of study and a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 based upon hours taken at Bradley to graduate.
