Certificate In Autoethnography: A Qualitative Research Method

This six-week online certificate is designed for students and scholars located anywhere in the world who want to learn about autoethnography, a qualitative research method that merges the practices of life writing with the practices of ethnography.*

This certificate offers the exciting opportunity to learn from and engage with Dr. Tony Adams, an expert in autoethnography and a Caterpillar Professor and Chair of the Department of Communication at Bradley University. Upon completion of the certificate, learners will have the tools to describe and analyze personal experiences and connect them to cultural discourses, meanings, and practices.

Since 2023, dozens of students, teachers, therapists, independent scholars, and professors of all ranks have taken the course. Learners have come from various disciplines including counseling, education, healthcare, communication, theology, sociology, human resources, and psychology, and from several regions including South Africa, China, Israel, the United States, Canada, Denmark, Greece, and New Zealand.

The program is limited to 12 participants.

* Although this certificate program does not offer academic course credit, some students may be able to pursue course credit by proposing this program as a component of an independent/tutored study at their home institution.
