Biography

Dr. Woods received a B.S. degree in Chemistry from Millikin University in 1997. During her senior year at Millikin, she participated in a NSF summer research experience in the biology department at Carnegie Mellon University. In 2003, she earned her Ph.D. in biochemistry from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she studied the crystal structures of DNA and protein-DNA complexes in the lab of Dr. Loren Williams. After earning her Ph.D., she worked as a post-doctoral research chemist at the USDA’s National Center for Agricultural Utilization Research (NCAUR) in Peoria, IL. She has been employed in Bradley’s Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry since 2011.

Teaching

Dr. Woods teaches general chemistry labs for both science majors and non-majors, along with general chemistry lecture for nursing and non-science majors. She also teaches an introductory organic/biochemistry lab course for dietetics majors. In past years, she has taught organic chemistry lab and upper-level biochemistry lab.
