Application Checklist For First-Year and Transfer International Students

Bradley Application

All international applicants are required to apply online via the International Application for Undergraduate Admission or the Common Application. It is highly recommended to use the Common Application when applying to Bradley. Applying via the Common Application will ensure that we receive your academic records from your educational institution.

Personal Essay

One or two-page personal statement or essay. Be sure to include your full name on each page.

Educational Records

Submit educational records for all secondary and postsecondary study. In the United States, a transcript is the name given to the official university report that lists the subjects, grades, dates of attendance and other information reflecting a student's academic performance in a specific secondary institution or university.

In the US, a transcript is considered official only when it has been prepared by the registrar's office and submitted in a sealed envelope to another given office. These records must be certified by an officer of the educational institution issuing the documents or by a local government official. Secondary school records should represent four years of study. Any documents submitted in a language other than English must be accompanied by an official certified English translation.

University-level study will be evaluated for possible transfer credit. Accurate evaluation cannot be made without a class syllabus, catalog, or course description. All transfer students should submit their foreign catalog (or excerpt) providing program and course descriptions with an English translation. Final evaluation will be completed after you enroll at Bradley.

Proof Of English Proficiency

Non-US citizens, with the exception of Legal Permanent Residents, are required to show proof of English language proficiency. Acceptable exams and minimum scores are listed below:

  • TOEFL iBT minimum 79 (paper-based minimum 550)
  • IELTS minimum 6.5 overall band
  • PTE Academic minimum 56
  • E3PT minimum 68
  • ACT minimum 19 on English exam
  • SAT minimum 1000 combined score
  • Cambridge English C2, C1 or B2 (minimum 176)
  • GCSE or IGC minimum A in A Levels English

Bradley's institutional code for score reporting is 1070. All scores should be sent directly to Bradley University. Graduate and International Admission does not accept language certificates; letters from counselors, advisors, or professors; or other assessments not listed above as proof of English language proficiency.

English Proficiency Waiver

Applicants who are eligible for a waiver of English language proficiency must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Applicants that graduated from a high school where the primary mode of instruction was English. Transcripts from the secondary institution must be provided for verification.
  • One year of full-time study or more at a secondary institution located in the U.S. within the last 4 years. Transcript and proof that academic courses were taught in English must be provided for verification.
  • Two years or more of continuous full-time work experience in the U.S. within the last 4 years. A current resume and an employment letter on company letterhead stating the dates of employment for verification.

Scholarships

International students are eligible for academic merit scholarships. A number of criteria are used in awarding these scholarships including an assessment of academic performance and records of leadership and service in schools and communities. Bradley University does not provide need-based financial assistance for international students.
